Body Armour

The Army, Police and Special Forces use protective vests, which have to withstand the highest threats, in particular the military. To increase the ballistic performance qualities of the modern vest an armour ceramic insert is used.

Outstanding performance of today´s body armour is a result of using high-quality one piece ceramics in conjunction with technical fibres. At Schunk we have developed and are producing in large quantity reliable SiC materials to our CarSIK quality for armour inserts.
These inserts are being supplied to several national armies.


Vehicle Armour

Modern armoured vehicles have to withstand ever increasing threats. An answer to these threats is to use a light weight and reliable ceramic. Technical ceramics are being used to enhance the development of modern protective systems. Ballistic protection has to provide optimum resistance for minimum weight.

At Schunk we have developed an extensive range of SiC materials suitable to be used in modern armour solutions. With our experience we are able to produce simple standard shapes in large quantities as well as complex components.
